PETER BOUWHUIS
Middle EastMr. Bouwhuis has been active and traveling throughout the Middle East and Indian subcontinent for the last 20 years, and in more recent times has been actively involved in the following countries.IndiaPeter was involved in a later stage of this project, when it had “temporarily” stopped during the construction phase because of disputes between engineering/construction companies and Essar. Much of the equipment and materials for this project is being stored in different locations around the world, Jebel Ali, Rotterdam, Korea and others. Because of the uncertainties surrounding final completion of the construction phase, cost savings were necessary to “mothball” equipment. In order to accomplish corporate directives, Peter provided for a combination of reassessment, review of procedures and contractual obligations regarding storage, insurance and shipping for freight “in transit” and/or “at site”. The great challenge for this project upcoming will be move the cargo from the Port of Entry to the Jobsite for which an extensive survey has been performed, anticipating that the project will continue in 2005. IranMr. Bouwhuis was active in the planning stages of the Ethylene Plant/Kharg II Pet. Co Project. The preliminary design and logistics plan to be executed were preceded by site visits and surveys - submitted prior to bidding by ABB Lummus Global, which was subsequently won by Technip, and is scheduled for completion in 2006. The project had certain unique logistics requirements, and overall involved the movement of materials to provide for a 500,000 tonnes/year steam cracker on Kharg Island. OmanThe PMC for this project was awarded in March 2001, to ABB/Lummus in Den Haag, Netherlands. ABB would be responsible for incorporating the FEED prepared by JGC (Japan) into the bid package for the EPC enquiries. Mr. Bouwhuis completed the preliminary logistics study for this project on which the scope of work for the bid package was based.
