He is a graduate of Wayne State
University, Detroit, Michigan with a B.S. degree majoring in Geology and
Mathematics, and further advanced studies in Mining and Technology. Experience ”in industry” began with
Flying Tiger Line, and following university studies, in 1970, he assumed
various roles with increasing responsibility at Circle Air Freight, and moved
upward to the position of COO-International, and concurrently served as
SVP-Global Sales, Marketing, and Development.
In a new era of post (1978) C.A.B.-deregulation, he was responsible for
the development of new products and services - including the first “forwarder
B747F charters”, opened numerous offices and subsidiary Company locations
worldwide (primarily USA, Canada, South America, Europe, and
MiddleEast/Africa), and directly contributed to the positive year-on-year
multi-digit growth and success of the Company, with direct responsibility at a
P&L-level for +1,000 employees and US$ 250MM revenues. Tenure of 11-1/2 years at Circle with
staff and line responsibilities was followed by 2-1/2 years at Air Express
International, reporting as Personal Assistant to the President/CEO, and
concurrently holding the position as VP-Sales & Marketing. In these roles, he launched the Company
into new markets - Brasil, and managed the Company’s owned, and operated
CL-44D-fleet of “scheduled forwarder charter flights” between USA – UK and
Caribbean. Further he facilitated
retrenchment and cost realignments as necessary on a global and regional basis. There followed a highly successful
“start-to-finish” requirement serving in varied capacities during 11-1/2 years
at Intertrans Corporation, wherein he held senior management and corporate
officer positions - including COO, and SVP Global Sales & International
Operations; with line and staff responsibilities for corporate development,
expansion into new service sectors, geographies, markets and products. He initiated and directed several successful
and accretive M&A’s, and held responsibilities for general Company
direction and management in this US$500MM revenue firm with +1,500 employees,
which was subsequently acquired in 1995. Upon the sale of Intertrans, Mr. Pulk
acquired a shareholding in Amerford International – Domestic Operations,
(renamed AmerTranz), and served as President and COO-International. His team was successful in penetrating the
international market, increasing revenues, and subsequently the Company made a
successful I.P.O. (NASDQ:OTC) in 1996, before selling his shareholding, and the
Company now renamed Target Logistics. Next he spent several years as
SVP-Sales, Marketing, & Development, with DAHER, a Marseilles, France-based
“niche” forwarder specializing in project freight, oil and gas, and related
clientele. Mr. Pulk was responsible for
international sales, development, as well as general business expansion; the
Company was acquired by USFreightways in 1999, and HQ-office relocated. Most recently Mr. Pulk served 3-1/2
years with senior tenure at Exel Global Logistics, initially as VP-Sales &
Development (North America) and later asked and accepted the position in
developmental role for “Greenfield start-up” to build and lead a new global
initiative for Energy and Projects, subsequently bringing this to an annual
+US$100MM revenue sector in the 2nd year. His dictate is “the CUSTOMER is first
and foremost”… and always, always give the customer the service expected,
knowing that the Company must make a profit to survive and prosper… and be
available 7 days per week / 24 hours per day
/ 365-days per year! In the course of his assignments, he has
traveled to, lived and worked “on site” in over 100 countries - some in the
more remote and difficult regions of the world. He specializes in the management of those companies and
individuals that have the unique skill-set to provide the specialized expertise
to support “logistics solutions”, and execute per those challenges presented by
